This is a thank you post to everyone at ActiveRain.
On November 28th, not yet two months ago, as a Newbie here on ActiveRain, I wrote my first post. It wasn't until this post 9 days later, "Make It Personal: There's No Template To Follow," with Broker Bryant as my muse, that I really started to understand what blogging was supposed to be about. It was a self exploration as much as a realization.
From that moment to this, the ActiveRain community has been encouraging and supportive. I've enjoyed every second. And I will continue to do so. I wish I could name every person here who has had an impact on me, but I would hate to leave any of you out. You know who you are. Your emails and phone calls have been a gift.
A couple of days ago, out of the blue, I was invited to be a contributor on BloodhoundBlog.com. I really can't tell you how much I was flattered, honored and surprised. After talking to several of you, I decided I would accept the offer. Brian Brady recommended me to Greg Swann and team, and I want to publicly thank him for doing so. But I have to tell you, from where I sit now, it seems daunting. It will be a challenge to keep up with the quality the other contributors churn out. So, I'm not going to try. I'm just going to make it personal. That's what you've taught me.
So, yesterday, despite my angst, I decided to write my first post on BloodhoundBlog.com. There was just one tiny problem. I had no clue what I wanted to write about. No clue, until another ActiveRain member posted a comment on my introduction. It was Teresa Boardman. She wrote, "Jeff, what is a nice guy like you doing in a place like this? Now I’ll have to stop by to get my Jeff fix. If you come on over to my blog we could have a nice cup of tea and talk about the world of real estate." A simple invitation to her blog ended up being the push I needed.
So ActiveRain came through again and I'm proud to link you to my first attempt at howling: Lessons Learned While Watching American Idol
I would never have imagined.Jeff Turner aka respres

Great job on the Bloodhound post!
Very good point- SHOW me how good you are, don't TELL me.
BTW- you don't really watch that show - do you?
Jeff,
Thanks for the post and congratulations on on the gig with Bloodhoundblogs.com. Now to check it out1
Jeff,
Great job all around! Let's get you moved out of the "Newbie" level into at least the "Intermediate" Level. Oh by the way did I say GREAT JOB!
Jeff,
Congrats on your new gig as a contributor at Bloodhoundblogs.com.You will do great.Just don't think twice if I may say.Do your thing.
William, Jennifer and Sarah, thank you my friend. I'm having a good time!
Ron, thank you and I appreciate the intermediate nod! : ) However, I still consider myself a newbie. I'm not sure when that's going to change.
Lloyd, as usual, you represent the encouragement and support I talk about here. I'm trying not to think. I thought that would be simpler than it is.
Be you, not me. Be you, not Greg. Be you, not XXX.
YOU are why you were approached. Thanks for making it even better .
Hubba...
Ahhh.......Sorry. I just needed to get that out of my system :) ...Okay, time to be serious....
You ARE the best thing that has happened to Active Rain in a long long time. Don't ever stop being YOU by making it personal. Your Blog inspires me. Your thoughts inspire me. YOU inspire me. Hubba! Hubba!
You have reminded me that not everything is as black and white as the world would like it to be. I can be me and not worry about what others think about that. Why? Because I know that I am not the only one just being ME on Active Rain.
It's because of you that I stay here and keep posting on "The Theme-Less Lovely Wife's Blog" :) You have given me validation. It really is okay to Blog because you like to Blog. If I had not found you I am not so sure I would have stuck around.
Well geez...Am I off topic? Who cares? I know you don't. SVW (smiling very wide)
Me Billie...You Hubba! Thanks for being there and pushing me forward. Ahhh.....I needed that :)
May be we need a show.....Real Estate Superstars....lol. I don't think it would go over well. Although the auditions and competitions would get a few laughs....
That was a great post. It is most definitely true. You can spend your whole day telling people how good you are, but in the end all you have done was waste you time and your breath!
Hi Jeff. I read your post and it's a home run. Great writing and well thought out (like that is anything different). I enjoyed the example of Am.Idol.. funny.
Now I can implant a photographic thought in your brain, as you did me. </open yoda mind trick powers> When they're belting out crazy notes in the auditions, you will remember me at least once in the show... </close yoda mind trick powers> as I will you (covering your eyes) and your wife telling you not to! I'm ROTF over here..
so,... what are you going to dare me to do next!? i wonder! ;))
To Sing or not to sing. I loved your article on Bloodhound. So true. How does one improve on perfection? After all perfection is an absolute term. That's what the article was.
Reading it reminded me of an interesting episode in my own life. I had gone into RING Radio to talk to them about having my own show. While I was standing just outside of the recording booth, I heard the DJ say, "well this is RING TALK RADIO but we don't have our next DJ here."
The DJ had just been in an accident and was at the hospital. I looked at the station manager and said," I would be happy to fill in for you." He looked at me, not knowing me from Adam and then said, "well what can I lose. It's only for three hours." So cold turkey I went into the booth and that was the start of my career on RING TALK RADIO.
I didn't have to tell him I was GREAT all I had to do was have the confidence that I could do the job. I didn't have to say anything except I can and will do it for you.
The winner is always the quiet strong confidence you have....in yourself.
Don't tell them....SHOW THEM.

TLW... as always, your words and care drive me to be better. For that, I thank you.
Christy... I'm quite certain the bloopers from a real estate superstars competition would be worth the price of admission!
Sheron... well, I didn't hit the sack last night until 3:30am... so, yes indeed. And it will be worth it.
Nick... I am going to dare you not. Inspire you, I will try. Stay away from the dark side, you must, Nick. From the dark side, stay away.

Jeff, thanks for the yoda link. cool. now you, your wife, Bryant and myself will be watching the yahoooos on idol.. too funny!!!! (Bryant- does TLW watch that stuff. I can see her raggin on them hardcore style)
Jeff... send over some of that inspiration!! :))
Great article from someone who doesn't watch American Idol I still enjoyed your Bloodhound Post - good job and congratulations on the post

Great job Jeff on Bloodhound!!!
Jay and I are Idol fans....love that show!
Jeff I have come to expect more from you.
i am still wrestling with some of the changes going on here. You were always engaging with no holds bared. I expected you to have some strong feelings about whats going on. I love your controversy's cutting edge. Don't wimp out on me. I expected you to come out firing. PLEASE give me something to get fired up about. I need your edge
Thanks Curt

P.S.
I can't sing or dance. Can you teach me to write? You are my American Idol!

Curt, I can't write unless I feel it. I wish I were one of those guys who could discipline himself to sit down, keyboard in hand and set a goal, like "create controversy" and just work it out. That aint me. If I feel it, it comes out. Sometimes you're gonna like it. Sometimes your not. But, I'm also someone who hears "Jeff, I have come to expect more from you" and says, "damn, guess I got some work to do." So, damn, guess I got some work to do.
Marguerite, thank you. (gotta tell you, tonight had some truly superior nastiness)
ARDELL!!! :) Well, if by "howler" you are referring to the lesser known definition, "a mistake, especially an embarrassing one in speech or writing, that evokes laughter; a very humorous mistake or a funny blunder," then I thank you. I never got an invite to RainCityGuide, so I took the first gig I was offered. :)
Jeff - This is a bonus for all of us. I notice Bloodhound gets more than just the zeroed in headshot. Craig and Tracey watch AI religiously also. I can't handle it.
Loved the way you got your message across. - j
Congradulations Jeff! You are a rising star in our real estate realm. I haven't had a chance to read it yet but I'm going to head over now. I love how you blog! It's a refreshing change :)
Mark, thank you for your encouragement. You're right, I suck at being anyone but myself. Some days I suck at that too, but that's probably something i should work out with a therapist. If only I didn't have issues with therapists. :)
Maggie, well, when you get the time, you should go check it out. There's some good stuff there.
John Occhi and the Harper Team, I'm glad you both said you don't watch AI and still got it. I was a bit worried about using a pop culture reference that might not hit with everyone, but it seems to have worked well. Thank you.
Jessica, thank you. Thank you very much.
John, thank you as well. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity.
Blogging seems to be in your blood now- you did a nice job and will hope to read more. You have done a great job conveying your personality thru your writing and that I think is what attracts me to your posts. It is like we are in conversation and it is an inviting and engaging atmosphere....I guess you make us comfortable is what I am trying to describe. As long as you dont leave us you are welcome to share your blogging journeys with us anytime!
Jeff,
You have always been the AR Man, and you will continue to be the AR Man. Are you going to cc me on the blogs?
You know. Sometimes I think to myself that I really need to "get a life" :)
Jeff-
Great backgrounder!
It's a small world and only getting smaller~!
