Christmas Tribute To New Orleans

studio 60If you don't watch Studio 60, then you missed an amazing, moving musical tribute to the City of New Orleans. Thankfully they put up a link to the free download of the MP3 file. I downloaded it and it's now streamed to every place in my home. I can't stop listening to it. I just had to share it.

HERE IS THE LINK. ENJOY!

The musicians in some of these rare concert footages are not all happy and have filed a suit, but for now, you can watch some amazing music in the 'concert vault' section of Wolfgang's Vault   Some good Muddy Waters there too.

Thanks all! I don't know if there are any Tom Waits fans out there, but here are some live recordings of Tom Waits in Minneapolis, December 16, 1975. Great Stuff.

Linked from that page is this, Johnny Cash and the Original Tennessee Two - Guest Star. This is a radio performance. There are 7 tracks.

George, the live stuff is great. These are very small venues and you can sense it. If she likes Tom Waits or Johnny Cash, she'll love it.

Jeff, It's funny how pictures roll through our mind as we listen to music. When I listened to the the New Orleans Christmas link, at first I thought of a small chapel in Austria where "Silent Night" was composed, and then superimposed it on New Orleans...and later tears came into my eyes...and later still I imagined a battlefield, and thought of all of our troops in Iraq.  Thanks for sharing it.

Sharon, the song is truly wonderful. It's a great song to begin with, but the jazz complexities married with it make it come to life in a way that is unique. Music can speak to us in ways words can't. That song certainly proves it. I'm so glad it moved you like it moved me.

Hi everyone-
I was browsing the iTunes Music Store and came across the song, Stille Nacht from The King's Singers.  It is a free download for a limited time:

Merry Christmas

Mike, thanks. For those who don't know, iTunes gives away one or two free songs each week on their site. It's always worth a listen.

I just checked out this weeks iTunes free tune and it's a country version of Auld Lang Syne that is will be a treat if you're a country music fan!
