The boys at Sellsius have planned an excellent Blog Tour USA.
Not to be outdone, the Turner family has their own blog tour planned. It begins in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 28 at 4am. And there are LOTS of similarities between the Sellsius Blog Tour USA and our Blog Tour USA - Family Style.
- They've got two bloggers. We've got two bloggers.
- They'll be traveling cross country in time for Inman's Bloggers Connect. We'll be traveling cross country AND BACK in time for Inman's Bloggers Connect.
- They've got a big RV. We've got a big SUV.
- They'll be traveling with no kids. We'll be traveling with 6 kids.
- They'll be stopping in 24 cities in one month. We'll be stopping for 24 bathroom breaks each day.
- They'll party themselves into a unconsciousness each night. We'll fall into bed unconscious each night.
- They'll be staying in exotic cities like New York, Miami and Las Vegas. We'll be staying in exotic cities like Grand Junction, Lincoln and Plainfield.
As you can clearly see, Sellsius aint got nothin' on us! :)
Starting on June 28th, we'll be speeding through Las Vegas, Nevada, across Utah, through Denver, Colorado, up through Lincoln, Nebraska, across to Plainfield, Illinois, down to Indianapolis, Indiana, over to Dayton Ohio and on to Grafton, West Virginia. Then, on July 20th, we'll head back through Nashville, Tennessee, Little Rock, Arkansas, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Amarillo, Texas, Albequerque, New Mexico, Flagstaff, Arizona, and back to Los Angeles.
I'll be updating via photo blog along the way. You can check out the progress here at CA to WV... And Back Again.
Jeff Turner aka respres

Yipee, " don't touch me, don't touch me." " When are we gonna be there"? " how much longer" ""I have to go to the bathroom ?"
From a mother of 5 !! !
Jeff and Family, have a wonderful adventure!!!
Daddy, Are We There Yet?
This just cracked me up. Have a safe trip.
If you have time in Nashville, the Stockyard is a great place to eat.
MUCH better photo Jeff......makes you look like a real person! I'm the oldest of eight, and when we would head off anywhere, especially to my grandparents' home in Utah, loaded in a station wagon, my dad would pull off the road and let us go potty. (There were no freeways in those days) When we expressed some anxiety about passing cars "seeing us", he assured us that it was okay since we were hidden behind the car door. :-) He was a neat dad.
Enjoy. What a fun trip, and it's wonderful to belong to a large family.
Six kids? That must be some huge SUV. Sounds like a great adventure.
Oh horrible reminders of the time my dad decided to drive us from DC to Mexico City and back for vacation. I believe our stops included Walnut Ridge AR, Alberqurque NM, San Antonio TX & Brownsville TX before we hit Mexico. Oh and our car had no AC!
PS When we got to Mexico City there was an earthquake.
Wow, I don't think they've invented the tranquilizer I would need for a trip across the country with six kids. You guys are brave! Seriously, have a wonderful time...this is what memories are made of and you're creating wonderful memories for you and your children.
Will you be in Denver before July 11th?
Because you KNOW we would ALL LOVE to SEE YOU!!!!
You have set yourself up for making memories of a lifetime!
I traveled across country as a kid and really consider it one of the best times of my childhood...my perspective at least!
Rememebr have fun with it, bring ear plugs and ...stop when they need to go- dont say- ok, 5 more miles then well stop!!! What is the difference!!!! :-)
It sounds like a great adventure! I remember (fondly) the road trips my family took with 4 kids, stuffed into our 1962 Buick Skylark (the interior was about the size of a Mustang). That was before seat belts were commonly used, so littlest brother stood in the gap between the front bucket seats! We had to pull a trailer with all our clothes in it.
Keep your sense of humor! Have fun and drive carefully!
Michelle... this will be our third year in a row doing this journey. By now we've got this down. Rocky is amazing at packing the car up with provisions. We're minimalists when it comes to this trip. I think she'll be writing a post about how to pack light for a trip like this. Thank you for your advice on the potty breaks. You're right. What the heck is the difference?
Margaret... we will and thank you.
Maureen... well, we won't make it that far, but I do appreciate the offer. And I'm so glad to NOT be looking at that photo anymore. :)
Vickie... our kids are excited. They look forward to the drive and the time in West Virginia. It brings me so much joy. It's going to be fun to chronicle the trip this year. You'll know if my sense of humor survives. :)
Jeff, Sounds like quite the adventure. 6 hours per day was all I could take with mine.
Jeff,
What an adventure! I can't wait to go along with you online. It will be our AR summer reality show. Hope you have a fantastic time.
Oh man!!! I am jealous big time. I LOVE road trips. Not sure I could do 6 kids but it sure would be fun trying. I could always have them follow behind in a taxi:)
I too like this picture much better.
Ok Jeff -
Like are you stopping to say hi in any of these cities with your family or shall we just know that you're passing through our area and think of you? You aren't bring the family pets are you? I know, so many questions, I sound like one of your kids.
Have a blast! Stay safe ... and may I suggest you take a couple of these for the long stretch between rest Stops! :-) I am looking forward to your post!
Jeff, We will probably being driving east out of Denver at about the same time. Only we will be heading to the airport. :)
We'll wave if we pass you. I have a feeling it will be a car we would notice. CA plates. 6 kids. You driving. Yes, we would notice.
Sounds like you are going to have a great time and will get to see so much country!
I have the best memories from driving across the country and back.
Have fun and don't forget to stop and smell the roses, or prairie grass depending upon which part of the country you're in at the time...
hi jeff!
love it. have a wonderful and safe trip in the family truckster. any chance our paths will cross on the road?

{SVW Hubba}...
Do you remember this...
So...Are you there yet? :)
TLW...ROAR!
Jeff, Rocky and Crew.. Sounds like an interesting trip! But you left out an important state! FLORIDA!
Have a very safe trip! Be glad I'm not in the car, I make it 50 miles miles before I have to make the "1st stop" :)
DADDY, I'm going to throw up.
Just a minute honey.
Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,,,,,,, Oops,,,,, Sorry Daddy!
I LOVE road trips.....my kids, not so much. Like Laurie said....they would vomit after the first few hours.
GOOD Luck...and may the force be with you.
By the way, nice new photo.....you don't scare me anymore.:)
I know...cheeky girl.
Julia
Driving through Nascar Country!! Woo Hoo...
Is that why you aren't making a RIGHT and coming down to visit all us Floridians???
....
since everyone's adding lines...
"Holy crap... what is that smell??"
"But, we haven't seen cows for 2 hours!"
Don't make me stop this car.
That's it, we're turning around right now and going back home.
What do you mean you have to go to the bathroom? Why didn't you go 5 minutes ago when we stopped? (Answer: Because I didn't have to go then.)
One..Two....................
Have a great time with your family Jeff. Kids are the greatest adventure :)
Lol.......I can't even imagine what it would be like to travel that distance with so many kids! My thoughts and prayers for you both!!!! You'll need them!
Can't wait to hear all the details of the trip!
You gotta hit DC/Balt -- you're going to be so close to us from West Va --I wish you safe travels!
My favorite from movie "Rat Race"
I'm prairie doggin'
Donna, That's just not right...That's just as bad as all the yellow pepsi bottles along the road... eeewwwww
All... it has been so much fun reading your comments. "I'm prairie doggin" is the only one I hadn't heard before. We like the expression "crowning" around our house.
I'm about ready to close down, finish packing the truck and head off to bed. The tooth fairy is coming tonight as well, so we have a little unexpected side track. :) I won't be gone long. I got my laptop, my wireless card and my camera... what more do you need? Right?
Be safe, have a great trip, see ya there!!!
BTW - Hate the new photo!!!!!!!!
Just kidding, I just wanted to be the first and only one to say something different than the others...Love the picture Jeff! Much Warmer, friendlier, and now look at me, actually commenting on your post!! LOL :-)
GREAT JOB all the way around!!
All... we're on the road, about 78 miles from Las Vegas. You can check out the progress here at CA to WV... And Back Again.
(I just did live video out the passenger window from inside my facebook account. I may have just crossed a geek line I should never have crossed.)
I got my laptop, my wireless card and my camera... what more do you need? Right?
TP, Paper Towels and QTips... STAT
Qtips clean between the keys on your notebook when someone spills!
David... thanks! But the kids won't be anywhere near my laptop in this car. I can assure you of that!

My parents and three kids used to drive to see friends 20 minutes away and they put this thing over the backseat (where our feet go--no station wagon) and we still were asking are we there yet. Now that seems like a minute ride. I look forward to seeing the pics - I am still seeing you stopping on the corner when the gang allowed you a few minutes to photograph that home--I am expecting a lot with your favorite camera. I like to new picture - much friendlier and accessible.
Joe... thanks. You can keep updated here: http://ca2wv.blogspot.com/
Chris... I don't know if we'll get to College Station, but if we do, you can count on it.
Cathy... :) I have memories like that as well. Trips that seemed like forever as a kid, then seem like a trip to the grocery store now. Very odd. This, however, is not one of those. This is truly a long trip!
Blue Ridge... I'm really enjoying doing it. I've got some videos I'll post when I get to a place with more time and bandwidth. :)
Jeff - Throw out a checkered flag as you go through Indy.
We once did a East Coast trip with four children - it was really a great time - how I miss those days, but the memories, oh yeah, that's what it's all about, creating family memories.
It's also a really good lesson in negotiation and compromise.
Best, have a great time!
I tried to post a comment on your other blog but Google is apparently taking today's holiday seriously and keeps claiming that I don't have an email address that I do when I try to log in...sigh.... Anyway I think you are VERY brave to drive across country with your whole family, especially since you have some really little ones!!!!!!!! (And I thought my 2400 mile trip to and through the northwest was a lot - and I have teens!)
Love the pics and the descriptions on your other blog. Have a safe and happy trip. See you at Bloggers Connect!
You are very adventourous! I thought our 3 week trip last year doing ePRO Workshops through the NW US with a 5 year old was going to be fun (while others thought me daft) and it was a blast! What a nice thing to do for the kids.
If you get as far south as Tucson, drop by! Otherwise we'll see you in SF
That's one "Are we there yet?" for each child. Not including myself :)
Well "Are you there yet?" SVW.
TLW...ROAR!
