Tribute To A Fallen Friend

Dave MoreheadDave Morehead understands the true meaning of Memorial Day. A few days ago, after reading about our Memorial Day idea, Dave shared with me a couple of short, but powerful emails and a Show he created as a tribute to a fallen friend.

Jeff, Thank you for sharing your idea. Thought you might like to see what I did last night using your idea. Thanks for allowing me to finally be able to come to terms with that whole nightmare of what so many of us, both as Vets and as a nation, went through. Dave. [A Tribute To My Best Friend]

I see a lot of Shows. So it takes a lot to make me tear up. Dave’s show made me well up with tears. So, I asked Dave for permission to share his Show and his story with everyone on Memorial Day.

Mana... you're welcome, but Dave is the one who really needs to be thanked. I'm so glad he allowed me to share this with everyone.

Wow. That was a wonderful tribute to a friend. Memorial Day IS more than a BBQ and a day off of work ... WAY more. We must ALWAYS remember this.

Linda... I know Dave will be reading these comments and smiling.

Mariana... Dave nailed that one.

Thanks for this great post Jeff.  Dave hits it home...  We seem to forget that it is more than a day off.  We have kids getting killed in Iraq everyday now, let alone those that have served and paid the price for OUR freedom in previous wars.  There are families right now just learning that they won't have a picnic with their son or daughter, brother, sister this summer or ever.  Thanks for keeping it real and have a safe Memorial Day Weekend.

Bob... thank you. You're right. I look at my young children and can't imagine someone coming to my door with that news. Dave's Show and story drives this point home very clearly.

Dave and Jeff, thank you for sharing.  On Memorial Day I remember my friend Ted, my best friend Tina's cousin who lived with her senior year in high school.  We went everywhere together, and later he helped me through a really hard time.  He died in the first gulf war, from "friendly fire".  He was just 21.  I thought he'd be a part of my life forever, as Tina has been.  I miss him still.

Jeff, thank you for sharing Dave's story and photos about his friend Chuckie. I've paid my respects to that same memorial in the last photo right here in Daytona during Bike Week a couple years back. I was stunned and speechless when that photo came up. I hope everyone remembers that Freedom isn't Free.

Dave - I'm with Jeff, this one made me tear-up! Although I do a Memorial Day show every year to remind others what this weekend is truly about, I have never lost someone I love to war. May we never forget the price paid for our freedom. Blessings!

Lysa... freedom is not free. But it's easy to wander through this wonderful life we lead and forget that.

Paula... thank you.

Sarah... those who have lost friends and family obviously feel it more than others. I have to imagine it. I have never lost someone close to me to war. My brother has. He served as an MP. For him, Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance. I can try as hard as I like to feel the depth of what he and you must feel and I'll never get there.

What a heartfelt tribute.  Thanks for this one.  We go through life in our own little bubble and, you're right, it's easy to forget the big picture, and what's real, and what matters.  We must never forget, never.

Peggy... I for one am glad people like Dave are around to remind me and share their personal stories of loss and sacrifice. It helps to keep me grounded and focused on the stuff that matters.

Jeff and Dave

Thanks for sharing your story.

While we all enjoy the day off work, the BBQ, or the weekend campout.  Let us not forget the men & women that made this possible for us.  In Dave's case, he has a very specific person (Chuckie) that he recognizes on this day, others may not have a direct tie to a fallen soldier.

If you're in the latter category.  Take a minute to find one and let their family know how much you appreciate their loved one.  That's what memorial day is all about.

This site commerates all who have fallen, you can post a comment or look up a name.  http://www.iwillsoaragain.com/FallenSoldiers2007.htm

Dave, Very touching video and words that you shared with us. As parents of two Marines, one ex and one active, TLW and I are just so fortunate that neither have had to go to Iraq. Even though both would welcome the call. All are in our prayers today.

Thanks for sharing Dave's story with us Jeff.

Ana... I had a great day. Took my boys on a hike and got to talk a good deal about Memorial Day with them. I had a blast!

I would like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for the kind words.

There is no way I can express my appreciation for the comments I have had the honor to read.

Of course, this isn't about me; it's about those brave men and women out there protecting us.

Chuckie would be proud to know that his sacrifice is appreciated.  Unfortunately, there are men and women just like Chuckie that have made and are going to make the ultimate sacrifice.  We must remember to keep them in our prayers as well as all the people affected by their loss.

 Thank you

Some specialists state that personal loans aid people to live the way they want, because they can feel free to buy needed stuff. Moreover, different banks give small business loan for all people.

The personal loans suppose to be essential for guys, which are willing to start their own organization. By the way, it's not really hard to receive a short term loan.
